Our membership in the Virginia PTA provides our students with the opportunity to participate in the National PTA Reflections program, which encourages students to explore the arts and express themselves by giving positive recognition for their artistic efforts. Since it was founded in 1969 by Mary Lou Anderson, millions of students have benefited from this program.
Patrick Henry students in Pre-K through 5th grade are invited to create theme-based artwork in dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography or visual arts.
“Tell Your Story” and Enter the Reflections Art Competition!
Enter the PTA Reflections Art Competition!
Every year Patrick Henry gets wonderful art submissions for the The National PTA Reflections Arts Competition! We would to see even more submissions from students that like to draw, write, take photos, dance, compose music, or film video. Your child can create an original piece of art and be recognized. This year’s theme is “Within Reach.” All students can enter the contest in photography, visual arts, literature, film production, dance or music composition. Their art piece should show what “Within Reach” means to them or let them describe, video, capture, compose or illustrate a goal that they want to achieve. Talk to your child about this and see if they are interested in submitting an art piece for the Reflections Contest this year. There will be prizes for the first place winners in each category! Each submission should have an entry form attached to the art piece. Look for paper forms and guidelines in the lobby soon or the forms are available online now at http://www.vapta.org/arts-and-education/reflections
Contact: Trina Alcorn at firstname.lastname@example.org or Maggie Moore email@example.com for more information or questions.
Entries are due Monday, October 30, 2017 and should be turned into the office.
